Sues Bio

I am a self taught mixed media/altered art/rubber stamping papercrafter!
I started out as an embroiderer taking a City & Guilds qualification but discovered working with paper and soon moved over!
I like to mix and match media in my work so you will still see the fabric/haberdashery influences in some of what I do.

I have been fortunate enough to have my work published over the years in several UK mags particularly Craft Stamper; Somerset Studio and other Stampington publications in the States and in Art Specially mag in Holland and I have recently had my first book published.....
Decorative Handmade Books......by Search Press.

I have Sue's book on my Christmas list.... hope that Santa is reading this...lol.... or my Kids...lol.
Please DO pay Sue a visit you can check out her creative blog over HERE
Now I would recommend that you get yourself a cupa and a packet of chocolate biscuits 'cos you could be there sometime.
Sues Blog title is from the famous Lewis Caroll

JABBERWOCKY
Lewis Carroll(from Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, 1872)
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --So rested he by the Tumtum tree, And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood, And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock? Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!' He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
Thank you sooooo very much Sue for sharing your time and wonderful talent with us.

A big HELLO and apologies for the delay with sending out your Halloween swaps ....as you know we have had postal problems here in the UK which caused problems of a build up of Forces post arriving from Brunei however I am pleased to say the Paula's finally arrived after almost giving up hope ...they took 3+WEEKS.

A thought for the weekend....

Friendship among Women:

A woman didn't come home one night. The next morning she told her husband that she had slept over at a friend's house.

The man called his wife's 10 best friends. None of them knew anything about it.

Friendship among Men:

A man didn't come home one night. The next morning he told his wife that he had slept over at a friend's house.

The woman called her husband's 10 best friends. Eight confirmed that he had slept over, and two said he was still there.
LOL
Do remember to call back on Monday and meet our December Artist Trading Card Designer, this month from the UK.
Have a great weekend
love Chriss xxx

Last of the BHD ATC's and some pics

Hello,
I haven't left town although there have been times when I did feel like it...you know when the builders don't turn up when they say they will.
Here are a few pics along with the last of the bad hair day ATC's...
Sorry that they are sooo late but you can see we have been busy here.

This is the the P-bath.... just waiting to be fitted that day.

This is the old toilet which gives a new meaning to an outside loo...lol...do you remember having a lavvy down in the yard with newspaper squares hanging on either a 6inch nail or string....and if your dad was sat in the there reading the next days toilet paper and you wanted to go.... you ran up the back lane and asked your aunty if you could use hers... oh to have an outside lavvy that was real posh... going up in the world you were...and boy do I remember my aunty Winnie moving house and having an inside loo AND a bathroom.... no more tin baths in front of the fire...and boy was I lucky.... The 3 boys went in after me...cos I know they weeeeeed in that bath water...lol.

Here we have the plasterers getting well plastered in the sitting room.

This was only last week Brrr....Alecia GD2 who was 15 yesterday had been forced inside a very small built in wardrobe painting it for me......lol with her shower cap on....not the wellies (sisters wellies) they were for going to the outside tap to wash her paint tray out.

Does anyone remember outside taps the only means of water to the house...I do, my mums mam lived in the upstairs flat well it was 1 room actually you did everything in there...it had stairs on the outside and you would have to go down and fetch the water in the kettle, that was then placed on the fire to make a cup of tea.... and if the tap froze over night you had it....we have it sooo lucky

The next 2 pics are my Kitchen that is not yet finished ....how did I live in all of this .... I used that outside tap for 6 weeks...lol.

At least I can cook a meal in it now... but will be glad when it's completed... Christmas?

The last of the bad hair day ATC's....the 1st is from Paula from Brunei who just happens to be in New Zealand at the mo

Thank you Paula.x
Paula did sent off her Halloween ATC's some time ago .....we have been waiting for them to complete the Halloween swap but it would seem due to the postal strike they may have been lost and so we will have to go ahead with the swap without Paula's....sorry Paula.

The Last of the BHD ATC showcase comes from Karen.... could you imagine waking up to this on a morning....
The scan of this brilliant ATC isn't good SORRY as it really is a great design and those of you who were lucky enough to get one in your swap will know just what I mean.

I wasn't one of the lucky ones... :(

Find Karen over HERE..... Thanks Karen x.
Thank you to everyone who took part in that challenge it seemed we all enjoyed that one.
You still have until the 30th to get your 'KEYS' challenge in....we have received some great ones already ....keep em coming girls.
Decembers challenge will be announced soon... Due to it being Christmas....it will give you a little longer to get them done.
Our Guest Designer is from the UK...keep popping back to meet her

AAADD PLEASE READ

AAADD

KNOW THE SYMPTOMS?...... PLEASE READ!

Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder.Somehow I feel better, even though I have it!!
Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D.-Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.
This is how it manifests:
I decide to water my garden.

As I turn on the hose in the driveway,I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.
As I start toward the garage,I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier.
I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.
I lay my car keys on the table,
Put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full.
So, I decide to put the bills backon the table and take out the garbage first.
But then I think,Since I'm going to be near the mailbox When I take out the garbage anyway,
I may as well pay the bills first.
I take my cheque book off the table,
And see that there is only one check left.
My extra cheques are in my desk in the study,
So I go inside the house to my desk whereI find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking.
I'm going to look for my cheques,
But first I need to push the Pepsi asideSo that I don't accidentally knock it over.
The Pepsi is getting warm, and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi,
A vase of flowers on the counterCatches my eye--they need water.
I put the Pepsi on the counter and Discover my reading glasses, thatI've been searching for all morning.
I decide I better put them back on my desk,
But first I'm going to water the flowers.
I set the glasses back down on the counter,
Fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.
I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,
I'll be looking for the remote,
But I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,
But first I'll water the flowers.I pour some water in the flowers,
But quite a bit of it spills on the floor.
So, I set the remote back on the table,Get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then,
I head down the hall trying to Remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:

The car isn't washed
The bills aren't paid
There is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter
The flowers don't have enough water,
There is still only 1 cheque in my chequebook,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses,
And I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,
I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all damn day,
And I'm really tired.I realize this is a serious problem,
And I'll try to get some help for it,
But first I'll check my e-mail...
Do me a favor.Forward this message to everyone you know,
Because I don't remember who the hell I've sent it to.
Don't laugh - if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!

Received this this morning in my mail and recognise myself....does anyone else?
