H A P P Y N E W Y E A R

A huge welcome to our very talented ATC designer for Jan 2010, hey where did last year go?

Some of you may already know Hermine, I found her on my first day of setting my blog up and have admired her work ever since, she is a great inspiration to so many and a wonderful blogging friend too.

Our 1st challenge of 2010 is... Z E T T I O L O G Y .....AND I AM SHAKING IN MY BOOTS...LOL.. AS LIKE MANY OF US IT TAKES ME WAY OUTSIDE OF MY COMFORT ZONE.
But we all love a challenge ....don't you agree.... I hear you groaning and calling me names, haha... just don't call me too early in the morning...lol.

Below is a small Bio from Hemine....

Hi,
I am from The Netherlands.

I love doing arts and crafts as long as I can remember and I love to do many different things, like mixed media, rubber stamping and my latest addiction is felting.

I have been published many times in the Art Specially Magazines, Art Specially books and was featured artist in Craft Stamper.

I am designing rubber stamps for Joan Gevaert Rubber Stamps and Scrapbooking under the name STUDIO Art Stamps and last year my dream came through, I made a book called Hermine's Choice.

The ATC's I made for this challenge are all made with my own designs, except for the script and scratches.

After watching Teesha Moore's You Tube film I simply had to try this technique with stamps only.

Me again,

See Hermines Zettiology ATC's for this challenge she has used all of her own stamps and I think you will agree they are fabulous.... the stamps and the ATC's.

If you would like to watch Teesha Moores video then YOU CAN FIND IT ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE BLOG.

Thank you so much to Hermine for being our Guest ATC Designer for Jan 2010 xxx

Why not pop over HERE to see her amazing blog BE WARNED THOUGH YOU MAY NEED A CUP OF TEA AND CHOCOLATE BISCUITS...LOL... AS YOU WILL BE THERE SOME TIME.

A. I'll have a boo Christmas without you.

Q. What do you call a snowman party?

A. Frost bite!

A native Mexican plant, poinsettias were named after Joel R. Poinsett, U.S. ambassador to Mexico who brought the plant to Americain1828.
Poinsettias were likely used by Mexican Franciscans in their 17th century Christmas celebrations.
One legend has it that a young Mexican boy, on his way to visit the village Nativity scene, realized he had no gift for the Christ child.
He gathered pretty green branches from along the road and brought them to the church. Though the other children mocked him, when the leaves were laid at the manger, a beautiful star-shaped flower appeared on each branch.
The bright red petals, often mistaken for flowers, are actually the upper leaves of the plant.

We learn something new every day

Interesting Christmas Card Facts from Woodlands junior school....

In 1846 1000 cards, with the same design as the first Christmas cards, were sold to the public at 1 shilling each by Felix Summerly's Treasure House in Bond street.

Postmen in Victorian England were popularly called "robins" because their uniforms were red.
Victorian Christmas cards often showed a robin delivering Christmas mail.

In the nineteenth century, the British Post Office used to deliver cards on Christmas morning.
The first Christmas stamp was released in Canada in 1898.

Want more interesting Christmas facts then please do visit HERE Woodlands junior school where I am sure you will learn something new....
for instance I didn't know we had a 'Stirup Sunday' at least I didn't know it had a name.... do you know what this tradition is?

With 2 days to go and maybe you are running around like a headless chicken and the kids are bored... now thats a surprise...lol.... why not send them to visit this link there is so much to do...
dress a snowman
dress a tree and more
and my fave for the girls dress a dolls house

Hope that you all have a great day ....

MONA, COFFEE and ATC's

Hello Happy Sunday,
Here we are again with some more of our Halloween ATC's but before I show you them I wanted to share with you some fab art which was sent to me this week by the lovely Karen G, thank you Karen x.

Mona is one of my fave stamps and use her allot.... time for a coffee break right now as you scroll down and check MONA out... enjoy.

Artist assistants stand next to 3,604 cups of coffee which have been made into a giant Mona Lisa in Sydney, Australia. The 3,604 cups of coffee were each filled with different amounts of milk to create the different shades!!
Fantastic wouldn't you agree x

Hello Jeanie,
Well as you can see for 2 of Jeanies ATC's she was definitely thinking outside the box...lol,,, and must say love the contents too Jeanie.

Thanks Jeanie x
You will remember our Guest designer for the Halloween ATC swap, Martine... see below some of her swaps

Thank you Martine for being a wonderful Guest Artist, many thanks for your fantastic swaps and for posting on your blog.x
Hi Sheila,
I see you have been distressing your backgrounds with inks... love distressing.

Thankx Sheila for taking part x

Hello to me...lol... The gorgeous Audrey no matter how much we change her in our art she is still beautiful....don't you agree?
The next 2 are a definite size zero...lol The web stamp I purchased from Tanda and it was cheap as chips..could just eat some chips now.

The other Stamps purchased from Karen at Scrapz.
The 2 images below were from LAA... I coloured them in black to make them look like witches in training and made them a hat... think it worked.

Just a few more sets of Halloween ATC's to post and then we can start on the wonderful KEY ATC's.... thank you to everyone who took part.
The last of the swaps arrived on Saturday and should be in the post very soon...still have a few to photograph as not many of them could be scanned this time...not a complaint.... they need to be photographed to show you just how gorgeous they are.
We have some gorgeous Winters Day ATC already arriving and considering how busy everyone is with Christmas...a big thank you.
We already have Jan & Feb 2010 Guest Designers set up and boy am I gonna be challenged and pushed outside my comfort zone... do hope that you will join us and for some be challenged too.
